Jet quenching in a multi-stage Monte Carlo approach

چکیده
We present a jet quenching model within unified multi-stage framework and demonstrate for the first time simultaneous description of leading hadrons, inclusive jets, elliptic flow observables which spans multiple centralities collision energies. This highlights one major successes JETSCAPE in providing tool setting up an effective parton evolution that includes high-virtuality radiation dominated energy loss phase (MATTER), followed by low-virtuality scattering (LBT) phase. Measurements charged-hadron $R_{AA}$ set strong constraints on model. Jet-medium response is also included through weakly-coupled transport description.

A Monte Carlo Model for ’Jet Quenching’
We have developed the Monte Carlo simulation program Jewel 1.0 (Jet Evolution With Energy Loss), which interfaces a perturbative final state parton shower with medium effects occurring in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions. This is done by comparing for each jet fragment the probability of further perturbative splitting with the density-dependent probability of scattering with the medium. A...

The Monte Carlo model JEWEL 1.0 (Jet Evolution With Energy Loss) simulates parton shower evolution in the presence of a dense QCD medium. In its current form medium interactions are modelled as elastic scattering based on perturbative matrix elements and a simple prescription for medium induced gluon radiation. The parton shower is interfaced with a hadronisation model. In the absence of medium...

RHIC experiments have established jet quenching as a fundamental tool in the study of hot matter in heavy-ion collisions. The energy reached is enough for high-pT inclusive particle studies and oneor two-particle correlations up to pT ≃ 10−20 GeV. The corresponding data are successfully described by a formalism based on radiative energy losses. This formalism needs, however, to be improved for ...
متن کاملHelac - a Monte Carlo Generator for Multi-jet Processes
The possibility of identifying new physics relies on predictions of multi jet final states at current and future collider experiments like TeVatron or LHC. Signals for many models beyond the SM involve a large number of jets resulting from decay chains of particles with high masses. Their Monte Carlo (MC) simulation, both for signal and background is of crucial importance for the success of exp...

A major difficulty is encountered in dealing with perturbative QCD: in computations one uses quarks and gluons but only hadrons are observed. Actually, there is no obvious conflict with colour confinement since it is impossible to compute distributions with quarks or gluons in initial or final states, they are divergent due to collinear and infrared singularities. Even, with this general impedi...
